"800 police officers have searched homes in Sydney and Brisbane this morning in the largest terror raids in Australian history. Sources in Canberra have told that a terrorist cell was close to launching an attack on Australian soil that could have included beheadings or mass shootings. The alleged intention was to film the act and then post it to social media, with the victim’s body draped in an Islamic State flag. Police executed search warrants on 12 properties in Sydney. Prime Minister Tony Abbott told the media on Thursday a senior Australian member of ISIS was providing “networks of support back in Australia to conduct demonstration killings here in this country”. “So this is not just suspicion, this is intent and that’s why the police and security agencies decided to act in the way they have,” he said.‘Beheading or mass shooting’ was planned on Australian soil, Terror cell ‘planned to behead a random member of the public on a Sydney street’: 800 police detain 15 suspects in Sydney and Brisbane.
